When AI video goes wrong: diagnose the brief before retrying
Use visible failure patterns to choose a better source, simpler action or more suitable workflow instead of repeating the same request blindly.

A failed-looking clip can have several causes: an ambiguous source, competing actions, incompatible framing or a task the selected mode does not support. Identify the visible failure before changing the prompt or paying for another attempt.
Separate appearance errors from movement errors
A changed face or product shape suggests a different problem from incorrect action order. A blurred source may not establish appearance; an obscured body may not establish movement. Review the original inputs alongside the result.
Watch the full clip. Write down the moment the problem begins and what changes. This gives the next attempt a concrete purpose instead of a vague instruction to make everything better.
Simplify competing requirements
Keep one subject action and one camera instruction where possible. A jump, a turn, a transformation and a fast orbit in the same brief can compete for the available time.
Break a complex scene into shots. A storyboard can show intermediate states for planning, but uploading only first and last images does not fix every intermediate pose.
Choose a source that reveals the needed information
For motion transfer, prefer stable references with visible limbs and limited obstruction. For an image-led scene, avoid a crop that hides the areas the requested movement must reveal.
If feet are hidden beneath clothing, a new character’s leg movement has to be inferred. Improving the target portrait alone may not solve that uncertainty; change the reference or the action.
Know when to stop generating
Use a budget and acceptance criteria for the task. If repeated attempts fail for the same reason, change the source, workflow or scene rather than continuing without a new explanation.
Use an editor for exact text, cuts, masks and timing. A larger resolution cannot repair a broken action, and a good final pose does not make the preceding movement usable.
- What exact requirement failed?
- Does the source reveal the necessary information?
- Is the chosen input mode suitable?
- What single change will the next attempt test?
