Your first week with AI: a practical workflow checklist

Build a small working process with clear briefs, source files, review criteria and actual costs, without treating a sample schedule as a measured case study.

Use the first week to establish a repeatable process for one real task. Define an acceptable result, prepare the inputs, test a supported model and record what needed revision. The checklist is a planning aid, not a promise of a specific speed or saving.

Choose one useful task

Pick a task with a clear result, such as a product concept, a short scene or a narration excerpt. Explain who will use it and what would make the result unacceptable.

Avoid judging the platform through a random sequence of impressive demos. A representative brief is more useful than a collection of unrelated outputs.

Prepare and test the workflow

Check the selected model, input mode, settings and cost. Use only the sources needed to explain the brief and keep their roles clear. Start with a bounded task before committing to a longer project.

Save the original prompt and source files. Watch or listen to the complete result, inspect the important details and record why each attempt was accepted or rejected.

Change one thing at a time

If the task fails, identify the missing or conflicting requirement. An overloaded action may need a simpler shot; pronunciation may need a rewritten sentence; a product edit may need a clearer source.

Change the brief, source or setting in a way that tests that explanation. Repeating the same request without a reason can spend the trial budget without teaching you much.

  • Keep the model and source stable during a comparison.
  • Note the total cost of the attempts you used.
  • Include finishing work when judging whether the result is useful.

Write a short internal instruction

At the end of the trial, document the task, accepted source format, model selection, settings and review checklist. Include examples of common failures and the next step when the normal route does not work.

Keep the process open to revision. The purpose is to make the next attempt easier to assess, not to create a rule that every task must use the same model.

Choose a relevant model

Use the current model and settings in the studio. The total cost of a usable result includes attempts, source preparation and any finishing edits.
