Keep a character recognisable across AI-generated shots

Build a reference sheet and control the changes between shots, then inspect faces, clothing and proportions throughout the sequence.

Character continuity starts with a clear reference and a controlled shot plan. Keep appearance, clothing and important features consistent in the brief, but review every result: a reference does not guarantee an identical face or body in each generated frame.

Prepare a compact character reference

Choose clear permitted source images showing the features the sequence needs. Keep clothing, hair and distinguishing details readable. Avoid a large set of contradictory appearances.

If the story requires a new viewpoint, plan it before video generation. A source showing only one side of the subject cannot establish every hidden detail. Treat a generated reference sheet as material to approve, not as a flawless identity lock.

Control what changes between shots

Keep the main appearance description stable while changing only the action, framing or setting required by the story. Record the accepted source and model version with each clip.

Use a consistent light direction and a manageable camera move. Large turns, fast occlusion and drastic changes in scale create more opportunities for drift. Start with readable transitions.

Distinguish animation from motion transfer

Ordinary image-to-video adds motion from a brief. A Motion Control workflow uses a movement input to animate a character image. It still needs compatible framing and visible body parts in the source.

Hidden legs, a cropped body or an obstructed hand can leave movement ambiguous. Choose a clearer reference instead of assuming a more polished starting image will solve missing motion information.

Review continuity in the edit

Compare the beginning and end of each accepted clip with adjacent shots. Check face shape, hair, clothes, proportions and the direction of action. Review the middle of each clip as well.

When a result drifts, shorten or simplify the action, revise the reference or choose another accepted shot. Use conventional editing for exact continuity fixes when necessary.

  • Keep a reference folder for the character and wardrobe.
  • Note the required pose and framing for each shot.
  • Do not treat a successful opening frame as evidence for the full sequence.

Choose a relevant model

Use the current model and settings in the studio. The total cost of a usable result includes attempts, source preparation and any finishing edits.
