Storyboard before generating AI video

Plan the visible states and transitions, approve the references and make each paid video attempt answer a defined shot brief.

A storyboard makes the intended sequence visible before you generate video. It can be a few approved images and shot notes rather than a polished drawing. The important part is agreeing what changes between shots and what must remain consistent.

Write the action before generating frames

Summarise the scene as a beginning, an action and an ending. Decide what the viewer must understand and which image would prove that each beat is present.

Use a shot list to separate changes in location, time or viewpoint. A large narrative change is often better handled as an edit between accepted clips than as one crowded generation.

Prepare a small set of approved references

Create or select permitted reference images for the character, product and environment. Check appearance and composition before using them as video inputs.

Record the intended role of each image. A mood reference, a first frame and a character reference are different kinds of information and should not be left ambiguous.

Distinguish planning images from fixed keyframes

Four storyboard pictures do not mean a model will follow four exact timed poses. If the selected mode accepts only the first and last images, intermediate states are still described rather than fixed by every planning frame.

Keep the transition compatible with the available inputs. If the movement is too complex, split it into shorter actions or use a more appropriate reference-led workflow.

Use the board to review the result

Compare the complete generated clip with the intended action, not only its endpoints. Check the order of events, subject scale, camera direction and continuity.

Update the board or shot brief when the source is ambiguous. A storyboard is useful because it makes a disagreement visible before more attempts, not because it guarantees flawless generation.

  • Approve appearance before adding motion.
  • Keep sources and shot numbers together.
  • Record which requirements are generated and which will be handled in editing.

Choose a relevant model

Use the current model and settings in the studio. The total cost of a usable result includes attempts, source preparation and any finishing edits.
