Twenty vertical AI video shot ideas for Shorts and Reels
Adapt twenty original framing and movement ideas for a vertical canvas, with space for captions and a readable focal subject.

Plan vertical video as a vertical composition from the start. Put the important subject where it remains readable on a phone, leave space for captions and ask for one clear action. The ideas below are shot briefs, not claims about guaranteed reach or platform performance.
Set up the frame
Choose a supported vertical aspect ratio in the studio. Keep the focal subject away from interface overlays and allow for the captions you will add in the editor. Check the actual platform placement before delivery.
A horizontal scene cropped later may lose the movement or the product. Review the first, middle and final frame in the intended phone-sized layout.
Twenty starting ideas
- 1. Product close-up: a single bottle on a tall plinth, with a gentle push-in and empty upper space.
- 2. Window portrait: a fictional adult person turns slightly toward soft daylight.
- 3. Overhead preparation: one hand places an ingredient in the centre of a clean surface.
- 4. Texture reveal: a light passes slowly across folded fabric without changing its pattern.
- 5. Illustrated character: a paper explorer lifts a lantern in a narrow doorway.
- 6. A growing shadow: a stationary object casts a slowly changing shadow on a plain wall.
- 7. A simple reveal: a curtain moves aside to expose one clearly framed object.
- 8. Street atmosphere: light rain crosses a small shop window; the camera remains still.
- 9. Product rotation concept: a restrained orbit around an object with enough space at the sides.
- 10. A desk action: a fictional adult hand closes a notebook while the camera looks down.
- 11. A small mechanical action: one visible lever moves and returns to its resting position.
- 12. A walking detail: shoes cross a clear patch of ground, with visible contact and a fixed viewpoint.
- 13. A miniature world: a small train passes through a model landscape, without a change of scale.
- 14. A material contrast: steam rises beside a cool glass surface, with a stable composition.
- 15. A portrait reaction: a restrained change of expression, without a large head turn.
- 16. A botanical shot: a single stem sways slowly against a neutral background.
- 17. A food detail: a spoon lifts from a bowl, with the full movement visible.
- 18. An abstract loop idea: a soft light sweeps across a geometric form; review the start/end match.
- 19. A before/after pair: create two approved stills and make the exact transition in an editor.
- 20. A closing frame: a calm product shot with empty space for an exact end card added later.
Turn an idea into a testable prompt
Add the subject, action, setting and camera instruction that matter for the chosen shot. Avoid asking for several scene changes just because the final video is short.
Use permitted references when an existing product or character must be recognisable. Check important details instead of assuming an image input locks them.
Finish and evaluate
Add exact captions, claims and logos in an editor. Watch with and without sound and inspect the layout on a phone.
Compare creative versions using meaningful performance data when available. A vertical format or a prompt template does not by itself guarantee attention, clicks or sales.
